ESP - Search beyond the enterprise

Searching for information within content managed solutions is fine, but it only addresses part of the challenge. What about content on other sites?

The Contensis ESP ‘multi-site search’ combines the best of both worlds, enabling simultaneous searches to be made across both corporate and external websites. Administrators can define the web sites that are searched and to what depth, thereby maintaining control over the information that is presented.

 'No-hits' Forwarding / Thesaurus Lookup

End-users can become as frustrated by getting no search results, as getting far too many. For this reason, within Contensis ESP, searches can be broadened based upon thesaurus lookups that the system will automatically carry out.

How this works:

Once sites are indexed, our thesaurus will examine the result to establish the number of hits per word. These hits are then used to provide suggestions to the user on search terms they have entered. This facility ensures that we only provide suggestions to users that return results.

Multiple site indexing

The system can be configured to index any site that is accessible over the internet.

Results Grouping by Site

Grouping results by website or folder location helps users quickly sort through results list to locate the most relevant information for the task at hand. It can also save time in the future by showing end-users which sites or folders are the most useful sources of information.

Content Relevance

A key feature of the Contensis SSE is its ability to find the right content with simple one or two word queries. This is due to the strength of our relevance engine. Factors such as weighting based upon frequency, rarity and term location are used in combination with linguistics to determine relevance.

Secure Search

Hit-level filtering of results lists is supported through standard Contensis Authentication. This ensures that only those documents that a user is authorised to view will appear in results lists. If a user is not authorised to view an item of content, he will not know it exists.

Multiple Document Types

Contensis supports the full text indexing of all standard document types e.g. PDF, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and HTML.

Contextual Summaries

Contensis SSE provides contextual summaries in results lists by extracting relevant passages in matching documents. In this way users are able to quickly identify the content that is most appropriate to their needs without having to look at each item individually.

Spelling Suggestions

The incorrect spelling of search query terms is quite commonplace. Contensis SSE automatically suggests alternative spellings using a full English dictionary.

Search Screens

The number of and functionality of the actual search screens is entirely configurable. This ensures you can create your desired look and feel with any specific functionality required.
