Secure A Level Results On College Website

Ludlow, UK - Jan 08, 2007

“Guildford College and Contensis are pleased to announce a significant development in the way the College delivers examination results to its students. The recent A-Level results were provided online, using a highly secure log-in feature for each student. The special purpose web page is part of the main college website, and provides them with their individual results. Guildford College students are seasoned users of on-line learning. Not surprisingly they were enthusiastic participants, with many gaining access the moment the information was available - well ahead of the date set for paper results to be distributed in the traditional manner.

Guildford College Vice Principal for Information and Planning, Mark Brickley, said “The success of the A-Level results initiative is a vindication of the college’s emphasis on new media methods of helping our students. We see this type of approach as a priority in an increasingly knowledge-driven economy”.

The exam results system was created as part of a wider project to redevelop the college website, underpinned by a strong content management capability. The secure channel was built using the DataView module which enables easy integration with the student records system. Further database interrogation features were put in place using a Web Control. This was created entirely by the College’s Web Services team and slotted into the Contensis .NET framework.

To find out more about this project, please feel free to contact Contensis or the Guildford College web team.”

About the company

The Contensis Enterprise Content Management suite of products began life, as many products do, following an animated discussion between a group of software professionals back in the autumn of 1998.

They all agreed, after exhaustive evaluation, that most of the products then available fell far short of their own vision and an idea began to gel. By spring 1999 work was well advanced on the specification of a system which not only met their criteria, and that of respected industry analysts, but equally important also reflected the views of end user enterprises. Power, ease of use and cost effectiveness were the key words. The beginnings of the Contensis development team were spawned a little later and work started in earnest to turn the dream into reality.

Philosophy

Our approach is completely customer-centric. Customers are our universe and we see their problems as our problems.

From a software perspective this means that we strive to ensure that every aspect of Contensis is simple to learn and easy to use. We believe we've achieved that, certainly at everyday user level. Even newcomers to the system are normally editing and contributing within minutes.

It's all part of our 'How can we make it simpler' approach.
