Contensis, a leading provider of enterprise content management solutions in the mid-tier, announces two important wins in the higher education sector.
Following a successful implementation for Southampton Solent University which was completed over a very short timeframe, Bolton University and Canterbury Christ Church University have selected Contensis after an extensive evaluation and comparison process.
Of key importance to all of these procurements was the acquisition of a content management system which would empower staff to take ownership and responsibility for individual areas of content within a secure permissions framework. Allied to this need was the requirement for the system to be easy and intuitive to use, requiring a minimum of training.
Given the importance that the web plays in promoting an individual university's image and facilities to the students of tomorrow, it was essential that the system removed the need for manual coding. It had to be practical to turn ideas into reality in a very short timeframe. If the Solent project is any indicator, the benefits in terms of speed, accuracy and relevance will be immense.
Steve Hogg, Web and Learning Systems Manager at Solent University explains, "Having been awarded University status in July 2005 we adopted our new name on August 15th. The pressure was on my team to implement a new brand on the web, and launch the new site in time for the new academic year. We selected Contensis for the strength of the product itself but also because we believed their partnership approach to implementation would work for us. I am pleased to say that it did. Their professional services team took on a major part of the work, leaving us to get on with organising the content itself. We launched on time and on budget without the need for any extensive training.
The product is easy to use and enables us to experiment with marketing ideas in a fraction of the time it used to take."
About the company
The Contensis Enterprise Content Management suite of products began life, as many products do, following an animated discussion between a group of software professionals back in the autumn of 1998.
They all agreed, after exhaustive evaluation, that most of the products then available fell far short of their own vision and an idea began to gel. By spring 1999 work was well advanced on the specification of a system which not only met their criteria, and that of respected industry analysts, but equally important also reflected the views of end user enterprises. Power, ease of use and cost effectiveness were the key words. The beginnings of the Contensis development team were spawned a little later and work started in earnest to turn the dream into reality.
Philosophy
Our approach is completely customer-centric. Customers are our universe and we see their problems as our problems.
From a software perspective this means that we strive to ensure that every aspect of Contensis is simple to learn and easy to use. We believe we've achieved that, certainly at everyday user level. Even newcomers to the system are normally editing and contributing within minutes.
It's all part of our 'How can we make it simpler' approach.
