Contensis gets Royal Holloway approval
The Contensis Content Management System has been chosen by Royal Holloway, University of London, for its college website.
Royal Holloway is one of the major colleges of the University of London and when travelling along the A30 near Egham, you can’t help but notice their spectacularly, impressive ‘Founders’ building which was first opened as a college for women in 1886 and today the 135 acre campus remains the home to some 8000 students, employing over 1000 staff.
The College makes widespread use of the web, both for disseminating information within the College and for communicating with those outside.
The web site has been designed to present an attractive appearance, with the importance to communicate effectively to all, with an emphasis on the issues of accessibility.
The College has for some time recognised the potential benefits of migrating from an environment within which web pages are directly edited to one in which only the content is edited and this then automatically integrated into a machine-generated web page with a consistent “look and feel”, but has only recently made the firm commitment to replace the current Dreamweaver-based editing environment with a Web Content Management System.
After a lengthy and thorough selection process Contensis was chosen as the preferred solution to undergo a pilot project. After several weeks of rigorous testing the project team gave the thumbs up and the Contensis CMS is about to be fully deployed for the live site.
About the company
The Contensis Enterprise Content Management suite of products began life, as many products do, following an animated discussion between a group of software professionals back in the autumn of 1998.
They all agreed, after exhaustive evaluation, that most of the products then available fell far short of their own vision and an idea began to gel. By spring 1999 work was well advanced on the specification of a system which not only met their criteria, and that of respected industry analysts, but equally important also reflected the views of end user enterprises. Power, ease of use and cost effectiveness were the key words. The beginnings of the Contensis development team were spawned a little later and work started in earnest to turn the dream into reality.
Philosophy
Our approach is completely customer-centric. Customers are our universe and we see their problems as our problems.
From a software perspective this means that we strive to ensure that every aspect of Contensis is simple to learn and easy to use. We believe we've achieved that, certainly at everyday user level. Even newcomers to the system are normally editing and contributing within minutes.
It's all part of our 'How can we make it simpler' approach.
