Case Studies
Alpha Airports Group
Background
One of the world's biggest independent aviation support companies, Alpha Airports Group plc provides retail and catering services for airlines and airports across the globe. Whilst you don't often come across Alpha's name on the high street, they are nonetheless one of the most successful caterers and retailers in the travel sector.
With 50 years’ experience and a team of 5,500 people providing over 60 million airline meals every year, Alpha needed to provide an intranet/extranet solution that would satisfy the needs of a diverse range of stakeholders, with employees working in over 150 retailing and catering outlets in 60 plus airports in more than 10 countries across five continents.
Catering for change
By implementing the Contensis Content Management System a number of key benefits were sought:
-
Integration of internal data sources to present selected information across the business
-
Enhance search, categorisation and management of data using the facilities within Contensis.
-
Provide capabilities for departments to create, modify and delete their own pages without the need for technical skills.
Migrating the data - a simple solution
Alpha needed to integrate information channels such as customer contacts, staff information, press releases, industry intelligence, and financial data into one easy-to-use content solution.
They supplied our implementation team with various content sources which were then carefully analysed before the selected content was migrated to the new solution.
Accessing data
With the data now available to Contensis we used the built-in Drag & Drop Output Controls to facilitate access to dynamic content via Drop-down lists, Bullet Lists, and various XML based Menus.
One intranet - many departments
Look and feel for the project was developed by Alpha's agency and we worked closely with them to ensure that corporate standards were maintained at every level in the project, whilst still letting each department have its own personality.
Each of Alpha's departments - whether it was Catering, Audit or Finance - were set-up with structured User Group and User Permissions. By this mechanism each department was given the freedom to create, edit or delete pages, upload documents and Digital Assets whilst still maintaining the Alpha corporate look.
